There is currently a Messages app exploit going around that is causing iPhones to crash, and sometimes resulting in the user having to restore the phone. Apple is aware of the issue and working on releasing a fix, but in the meantime the best way to safeguard yourself against this is to go into Settings-> Notifications-> Messages and under the section “Alert Style When Unlocked” select “None.” Additionally, we recommend turning of the “Show on Lock Screen” option, and the “Show Previews” option.
